Luxray Rescue

There is a curious, albeit slightly obnoxious, kricketune that has placed itself directly outside my sleeping quarters. While I would love to help it attract a mate so it can stop that chirping, every time I attempt to confront it, it flees as though scared of me! If you know I am in here, kricketune, why are you chirping outside my bed all night?! Do I really give off such a harmless impression? Well... On second thought, I would prefer if Pokemon are comfortable enough around me to make noise, even if that noise is really messing with my sleep.

My field work has been going very well so far. I've been able to get in contact with a local town about their luxray problem. This pokemon is alone, strangely, while other luxray will almost always be in family groups that can get quite large. What happened to her family? When I arrived to obtain her, she was incredibly angry, specifically with someone within the town whom the rest of the residents had to fiercely protect. In doing so, the luxray adopted several nasty scars. I cannot blame the residents for protecting themselves, and I cannot blame the luxray, either. When I asked the resident about what he could have done to anger her, he gave me a sort of flippant half-answer. Something about a farm and territory. My theory is he started tilling her territory and maybe even her family was caught in the crossfire of the dispute. Luxray do not travel alone and they certainly do not pick one person to attack unless motivated otherwise.

Anyway, she is in my custody now. Do not ever do what I did, but tranquilizing her was my last resort due to the state of her body. So, I simply coaxed her. She listened to what I had to say and came willingly. Now she is in my nursing bay with a cone on her neck to keep her from licking at her medicated wounds. Which she really is not happy about, but she should recover smoothly in the coming days. Strangely, I feel very little about this rescue. I feel angry at the townsfolk for what they did to her, especially after they had the gall to lie to my face about the origin of this whole problem. But as long as luxray is safe, I believe she will soon find her peace. Because of her resilience, strength, and grace, I think I will call her Athena.

Knock it Off!

The sanctuary is a No-catch zone. While I do house some very rare and sought-after pokemon, they are not here for you all to come in and harass. If you'd like to schedule a visit with my rescues you can contact me accordngly. This is not the Safari Zone, this is not a grove, this is not your backyard. The next human I see within my sanctuary without permission is going to be pursued. Legally.

Not every pokemon wishes to be your best friend or be trained to battle. In fact, a lot of them are rescued from homes that forced them to do such things against their will. In the sanctuary, pokemon are safe from humans unless they themselves seek out human interaction. This is your reminder that the pokemon I let roam the sanctuary at night are more often than not extremely aggressive toward outsiders. There is a pack of sneasel that will rip you limb from limb and leave no trace of your existence except a few scraps of clothes. Stop coming here unless you want to be food.

Water Quality

The sanctuary's water quality has been going down pretty consistently over the past few weeks. It's been browning and becoming brackish, which some pokemon might like, but this is the freshwater side of the sanctuary. I can only clean up so much algae before it starts coming back with a vengeance!

To combat this in a more productive manner, I've decided to introduce my wailmer, Rain, to the freshwater source in hopes that he will filter it better. He is a great candidate due to his friendly disposition and hardy nature. He is a little shy, though, so I am still going to watch closely to make sure that when the lotad return to the lake they don't start bullying the poor guy. Perhaps I can get a special grant from suicune to come ands clean my lake if I send a message in a bottle out to it?! Just kidding! Pokemon are amazing, aren't they? I feel like they would be better off if us humans weren't around at all. They seem to get things done much better than we do, and things that actually matter, mind you. What good does my website do for anything on this planet?

Imprisonment

I have gotten a few e-mails from concerned residents around the city regarding my sanctuary and how it's set up. The more kindhearted messages actually think to ask me how I manage to keep my sanctuary pokemon from hunting or attacking each other when they are typically free-range. Because most of you asked nicely, I will answer nicely!

As I've said before, the sanctuary operates under a behavior system. If a pokemon exhibits hostility or is a species known to hunt for sport or act in ways that could harm others, they are isolated and placed in their own mini-sanctuaries that have plenty of space, enrichment, and shelter. Here, I observe their condition closely and if they seem perceptive I will introduce them to pokemon of their own kind in a controlled manner. If this goes well, they will be slowly transitioned out into the rest of the sanctuary. Pokemon do not generally want to hurt each other if their conditions are ideal and their bellies are full. That being said, some pokemon are too scared, hurt, angry, or nurtured in such a way as to deny them of their naturally peaceful state of being. I do not judge these individuals. They get exactly what they need to live the rest of their lives happily!

A lot of you seem to think you know what's better for my sanctuary than I do. Let me tell you how ridiculous this is! You're welcome to come volunteer and see how things operate! No pokemon in my custody is imprisoned, caged, or treated like a burden, and I'd prefer if you'd all trust me to do my job properly.
